Who is SBN?

SBN - Science Based Nutrition - builds single-ingredient supplements rather than blends. Most of the range is capsules: creatine, BCAAs, beta-alanine, L-citrulline, L-glutamine, L-theanine, magnesium, zinc, NAC, TUDCA, berberine, inositol and nattokinase, each doing one job at a dose printed on the label. Where a blend does appear, as in ZMA or Magnesium Advanced, it is a short list rather than a proprietary wall of names.

Two powders sit alongside the capsules. Clean WPI is a whey protein isolate from 100% grass-fed New Zealand dairy, up to 27.5 g of protein per serve, HASTA certified, and sold unflavoured as well as in Vanilla Bean and Chocolate. Collagen Pro is the collagen peptide option in the range.

The capsules are the reason most people choose SBN. There is nothing to mix, nothing to taste and nothing to flavour, which matters for ingredients that are genuinely unpleasant as powders - beta-alanine, berberine and NAC among them - and they travel in a way a tub does not. The trade-off is that a capsule dose is fixed: a large serve of glutamine is a lot of capsules where a powder is one scoop.

Frequently asked questions

What does SBN stand for?

Science Based Nutrition. A few products in the range still carry the full name on the label - Ashwagandha, ZMA and Test Matrix among them - so you will see both on the shelf. It is the same brand.

Why capsules instead of powder?

Nothing to mix, nothing to taste and nothing to flavour. That matters most for ingredients that are genuinely unpleasant as powders - beta-alanine, berberine, NAC - and it makes them easy to travel with. The trade-off is that a capsule dose is fixed, so a large serve of something like glutamine means swallowing a lot of capsules where a powder would be one scoop.

Is SBN Clean WPI suitable for drug-tested athletes?

Clean WPI is HASTA certified, which means batch testing against the WADA prohibited list, and it is the SBN product that sits in our athlete-safe range. Nothing else in the range carries that certification, so if you are tested, check the label of anything else before you take it.

SBN makes three magnesiums - which one?

Glycinate is the general-purpose one and the usual starting point: well absorbed and gentle. L-Threonate is the form people choose when the interest is cognitive rather than muscular. Magnesium Advanced combines forms in one capsule if you would rather not choose. ZMA Capsules pair magnesium with zinc instead.

Why buy single ingredients instead of one blend?

Because you pay for what you actually use. A blend might carry eight ingredients when you only wanted two, and the amount of each is often hidden inside a proprietary total. Buying them separately usually costs less per effective dose and lets you change one thing at a time, which is the only way to tell what is working for you. The downside is more bottles and more to remember.
