Who is Gen-Tec Nutrition?

Gen-Tec was launched in 1999 by Nick Jones, a body-recomposition specialist, and the range still reads like it was built by someone with a specific method rather than a marketing plan. It is one of the older Australian brands going.

The proteins are Hydro Pro WPI and a Protein Custard. Around them the ingredients sit mostly plain: Creapure Creatine Monohydrate, Pure Carbs, Arginine AKG, D-Aspartic Acid and Amino Lean, with P2P IntraWorkout Formula for during the session and Psyched 4.0 before it.

Two unusual ones: Colostrum, which very few brands carry, and the Thermo Fuel line - Ultimate Thermo Fuel, Body Lean Hydroxy Thermo Fuel and Thermo Fuel Powder - which has been in the range for most of the brand's life. Ultimate Male Fuel covers the men's end.

Frequently asked questions

What is colostrum, and why would I take it?

The first milk a cow produces after calving, dried into a powder. It is rich in immunoglobulins and growth factors, which is why it gets taken for immune and gut support. The research is genuinely mixed and it is a dairy product, so it is not suitable if you avoid dairy. It is here because almost nobody else stocks it.

Why is hydrolysed whey different?

Hydro Pro WPI is pre-broken-down, so it absorbs faster and is easier on a sensitive stomach than a standard isolate. Whether that speed matters is debatable for most people - total daily protein does the work. It is worth the premium mainly if standard whey does not sit well with you.

Three Thermo Fuels - which one?

Ultimate Thermo Fuel is the capsule flagship. Body Lean Hydroxy Thermo Fuel is the variant. Thermo Fuel Powder is the drinkable version, which suits people who would rather have it in water than swallow capsules. All contain stimulants - read the label and count them alongside your coffee and any pre-workout.

Is Creapure worth paying more for?

Creapure is a specific branded monohydrate made in Germany and batch tested for purity. Chemically it is the same creatine monohydrate as a generic, which will do the same job for less. You are paying for the certification, which matters most if you are drug tested.
