Macromike is way more than food! This unique Australian company launched in 2016, providing goods fueled by a passion for all things natural and tasty! Their huge range includes some of the most unique alternatives out there - plant-based, allergy-friendly, vegan friendly - what is not to love?

Who is Macro Mike?

Macro Mike launched in Australia in 2016 and is more a food company than a supplement one. Everything is plant based, almost everything is built on almonds or peanuts, and a good half of the range is something you bake rather than something you drink.

That baking line is why people come: Protein Pancake, Banana Bread, Cookie, Brownie, Donut, Muffin and Mug Cake mixes, plus a Macro Friendly Cookie Mix and The Clean Cookie ready to eat. Alongside them, Powdered Peanut Butter and Powdered Almond Butter - defatted nut powders you rehydrate - which almost nothing else in the store does.

The protein powders are Almond Plant Protein, Peanut Plant Protein, Luxe Almond Protein and Plant Based Protein, and they taste like the nut rather than like a vanilla approximation of it. Then the comfort end: Almond Protein Hot Chocolate, Dreamy Hot Chocolate, Almond Protein Instant Coffee, Plant Protein Pudding, Protein Balls and the Protein Indulgence Bar. A pre-workout, a creatine and Macro Gut round it out.

Frequently asked questions

Is Macro Mike a protein brand or a food brand?

Both, and the food half is the interesting one. The baking mixes are the reason most people find the brand - a protein brownie you make yourself tends to beat one that has been sitting in a wrapper. If you want a straightforward tub of plant protein, Almond or Peanut Plant Protein does that job too.

What is powdered peanut butter for?

Peanuts with most of the oil pressed out, ground to a powder. Add water and it becomes peanut butter at a fraction of the kilojoules; leave it dry and it goes into shakes, oats and baking as flavour. It is not a protein supplement as such - think of it as an ingredient.

Almond or Peanut protein?

Peanut is the richer, more obviously dessert-like one. Almond is lighter and mixes more cleanly into oats and coffee. Luxe Almond is the premium version of the almond. All are plant based, so none of them will behave quite like whey in water - they are better in milk or a smoothie.

Do the baking mixes need eggs?

Check the pack, because it varies by mix - some are water-only and some want an egg or a banana. The range is plant based, so where a binder is needed there is a vegan option given on the instructions.
