Who is Schuessler?

Schuessler Tissue Salts are a homeopathic range, and the only one of its kind in the store - all 37 products are tissue salts and nothing else. They go back to the nineteenth-century work of Dr Wilhelm Schuessler, who proposed that twelve mineral salts underpin cellular health, and the range has been sold in essentially that form ever since.

There are two halves. The twelve single salts carry both their mineral name and their traditional use: Nerve Nutrient (Kali Phos), Muscle Relaxant (Mag Phos), Bone Health (Calc Phos), Blood Cleanser (Calc Sulph), Fluid Balance (Nat Mur), Water Eliminator (Nat Sulph), Skin Balance (Kali Sulph), Glandular Tonic (Kali Mur), Acid Neutraliser (Nat Phos) and Cleanser and Conditioner (Silica). The combinations - Comb B through Comb T - blend several for one purpose: Hayfever (Comb H), Nerve Tonic (Comb 5), General Tonic (Comb 12), Menstrual Pain (Comb N), Sinus (Comb Q), Fatigue (Comb F), Painful Teeth (Comb R) and more.

Kidz Be Calm, Kidz Strong Teeth and Bones and Kidz Cough & Cold Relief cover the children's end. Doses are micro by design - these are homeopathic preparations, not mineral supplements, and they are not a substitute for either.

What are tissue salts?

Homeopathic preparations of twelve mineral salts, developed by Dr Wilhelm Schuessler in the nineteenth century on the theory that cellular health depends on their balance. They are micro-dosed - that is intrinsic to how homeopathy works - so they are not a way of taking magnesium or calcium. What do the Comb letters mean?

A Comb product is a combination of several of the twelve salts chosen for one purpose, and the letter is simply its index - Comb H is the hayfever one, Comb N the menstrual pain one, Comb 12 the general tonic. Every pack names the purpose alongside the letter, so you do not need the chart.

Single salt or a combination?

A combination if you are matching a purpose - that is what they are built for and the easier way to shop the range. A single salt if you have been told which one, usually by a practitioner. Both are in the Schuessler Tissue Salts collection together.

Are they safe with other medication?

Tissue salts are micro-dosed and generally well tolerated, but the honest answer to any interaction question is to ask your pharmacist - and importantly, a homeopathic preparation is not a replacement for prescribed treatment.
