Traditionally used in Western herbal medicine, milk thistle is regarded as a liver-protecting tonic. It aids in the digestion and breakdown of dietary fats plus it helps reduce the formation of free radicals as it has antioxidant properties. Traditionally used in Chinese medicine (TCM), goji berries support the health of the kidneys and regulate the various forms of fluid in the body. Goji berries are also taken to nourish and replenish both Yin and Yang, and to balance these two opposing forces. Like milk thistle, both goji berries and Schisandra have antioxidant properties to help reduce the formation of free radicals in the body.
